Reading your stats without being misled

What the numbers actually say

Your numbers live in Statistics (all quizzes) and in the tab of the same name on each quiz.

The four headline numbers

  • Views: people who opened the quiz.
  • Starts: those who began answering.
  • Completions: those who reached the end.
  • Leads: those who left their email. The only number that earns you anything.

Losing people along the way is NORMAL

This is the most important line on this page, and the one that costs the most time when ignored.

A quiz does not aim for 100% completion, and should not. The first to leave are the visitors who were not for you: they qualified themselves out. That is the quiz doing its job.

Read every exit as a mistake and you will rewrite a quiz that is working fine.

"Where do respondents drop off?"

The chart shows, question by question, how many people saw it. The bar shrinks at each exit.

Two things, so you don't fix the wrong question:

1. Someone who leaves between question 6 and 7 never saw 7. They stopped on 6. That is the one to look at. Tiquiz names it for you, you don't do the maths.

2. Tiquiz separates two kinds of drop-off, and they need opposite fixes:

  • They see the question and don't answer: it blocks. Too personal, unclear, or a missing answer. Rewording helps.
  • They answer, then stop: the question landed fine, what follows loses them. Rewording it changes nothing.

Wait until you have enough people

Below roughly twenty people on the same question, Tiquiz names no drop-off point, and that is not a limitation: with 8 visitors, one person is worth 12%. We'd be sending you after noise.

While the sample is small, Tiquiz says plainly that there is nothing to conclude yet.

How to measure a change

One change at a time, then 20 to 30 fresh responses before judging.

Two changes at once and you will never know which one worked. This is the only method that gives an answer.

Share rate

A low share rate is not always a flaw in the quiz or a weak bonus. On an intimate or exposing subject (health, mental health, money, weight, family, neurodivergence), sharing publicly means outing yourself. The rate will be low, and that is normal.

Resetting your stats to zero

Your own test runs are skewing the numbers? Start from zero before you launch your quiz.

  1. Open your quiz, Results tab (Responses tab for a survey).
  2. At the very bottom, click Reset stats to zero.
  3. Confirm in the window that opens.

What goes back to zero: views, starts, completions, shares, per-question stats and the quiz's AI analysis.

Your leads stay, unless you tick Also delete this quiz's leads in the window (the box is unticked by default). Contacts already sent to your email tool stay there either way.

This is permanent. A deleted quiz can be recovered from the trash for 30 days, reset stats cannot.
